Army Bands NCO Academy

 

Mission

The Army Bands Noncommissioned Officer Academy prepares Staff Sergeants and Sergeants First Class to serve as Squad Leaders, Platoon Sergeants, and staff section NCOICs in Army Bands. Our graduates are versatile and adaptable leaders, firmly grounded in the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that characterize the best of the NCO Corps. They are experts in designing and delivering world-class musical support for military ceremonies, troop and family morale events, Army recruiting, and community engagement in support of Army objectives. Army Band ALC provides training in Noncommissioned Officer Common Core Competencies (NCO-C3), MPT leadership, ceremonial band (seated) conducting, drum major for a ceremonial marching band, subordinate counseling, publicity development and implementation, and leading physical readiness training.

Course Objectives

Army Band ALC provides training to Sergeants and Staff Sergeants in the technical and leadership subjects that prepare them for the duties expected at PMOS 42R Skill Level 3.

ALC Preparation Tips

  1. Refresh on Drum Major skills.
  2. Refresh on conducting skills.
  3. Refresh on basic grammar and writing skills, specifically APA 7.
  4. Refresh on ADP 6-22 and TC 7-22.7.
  5. Understand that the Advanced Leader Course is a professional education environment.
  6. Be prepared to collaborate with your peers.

Army Band SLC provides training in Noncommissioned Officer Common Core Competencies (NCO-C3), MPT management, publicity and entertainment concepts development, ceremonial band (marching) conducting, critical function areas management, rehearsing and training large ensembles, and developing and managing physical readiness training.

Course Objectives

Army Band SLC provides training to Staff Sergeants and Sergeants First Class in the technical and leadership subjects that prepare them for the duties expected at PMOS 42R Skill Level 4.

SLC Preparation Tips

  1. Refresh on Drill & Ceremony skills, as well as TC 1-19.10.
  2. Refresh on conducting skills.
  3. Refresh on basic grammar and writing skills, specifically APA 7.
  4. Refresh on ADP 6-22, TC 7-22.7, ATP 1-19, and TC 1-19.52.
  5. Understand that the Senior Leader Course is a professional education environment.
  6. Be prepared to collaborate with your peers.
